Family records are an invaluable source of information. Caring for them can be a challenge for any family historian. Learn simple, effective techniques for preserving family documents and photographs while still keeping them accessible for research. 
 
Tamara Hemmerlein is the Director of Local History Services at the Indiana Historical Society. As the former Hoosier Heritage Alliance coordinator, she implemented Indiana’s Connecting to Collections project. She serves as the chair of AAM’s Small Museum Administrators Committee and is the Indiana state team leader for AASLH. Tamara wrote “Good Visitor Service, or ‘Put Down the Pencil and Put On a Smile!’” for the Small Museum Toolkit. Tamara has frequently presented at local, state, regional and national conferences on a variety of museum-related subjects. Prior to coming to IHS, Tamara worked as the executive director of the Montgomery County Historical Society and of the Montgomery County Cultural Foundation in Crawfordsville, Ind.
