In partnership with the Indiana Jewish Historical Society, IHS is pleased to offer this program that incorporates an overview of family history with time to research the IJHS and other archives at IHS. Library and collections staff will be on hand to help the participants as they request items and move to the reading room. There will also be behind-the-scenes tours of the archives and the Conservation Lab. This special day is open to all ages 12 and up who have a special interest in genealogy and collections related to Jewish life in Indiana, while developing research skills even for those without much experience.

Ever wanted to learn more about your family or community origins? This session will highlight basic family history research that can be done online with additional information about how to organize your research.
Introduction to the IJHS Collections
Amy Vedra, director of reference services, IHS
Learn more about the collection available at IHS. This interactive session will teach how to locate the items via our online catalogue and how to complete a call slip so you can view some of the IJHS treasures!
Lunch is on your own, but we would suggest the on-site Stardust Terrace Cafe

See some of the highlighted collection items from the IJHS collection! Learn how to access the reading room and begin to research the history (family or community)that interests you.
Behind-the-Scenes-Tours and Research Time with Assistance

During this session, small groups will be led on behind-the-scenes tours of the IHS archives. While waiting for your tour, you can continue your family history or community research with assistance from Amy or Allison.
The program will end at 4 p.m.
Allison DePrey Singleton is the assistant coordinator for education and community engagement at the Indiana Historical Society. She is a graduate of Indiana University with master's degrees in public history and library science.
Amy Vedra is the director of reference services at the William H. Smith Memorial Library at the Indiana Historical Society. She holds master's degrees in arts in history and library science.
