The 1940 Census is being released Mon., April 2, 2012.
You’ll be able to browse the images on Ancestry.com, FamilySearch, and other sites, although indexing will take several months. FamilySearch encourages genealogists to get involved in indexing their families or neighborhoods.
The digital images will be accessible free of charge at NARA facilities nationwide through our public access computers as well as on personal computers via the internet.
