After the Civil War, soldiers returned home and tried to re-create their earlier lives. The post-Civil War era is a treasure trove of records and resources for family historians. Learn how to find and use these records to discover more about your Civil War ancestors and their families.

 

Amy Johnson Crow, MLIS, CG, is a writer, editor, researcher, and lecturer. She is the Genealogical Content Manager for Archives.com. Amy is a former editor of Ohio Civil War Genealogy Journal and is active in the Indiana Genealogical Society.
