Society of Civil War Families of Indiana
The Indiana Genealogical Society has established a lineage affiliate, the Society of Civil War Families of Indiana. Any Indiana Genealogy Society member who is a direct descendant of any person who served in an Indiana Civil War Union military or naval unit, or who was a resident of Indiana upon joining a non-Indiana Union unit, may apply for membership in the SCWFI.
To be considered for the SCWFI, prospective members will fill out the application form, include documentation proving their lineage and submit an application fee. The SCWFI's Governing Committee will review applications received by the December 31 deadline each year and inductees will receive a Certificate of Membership and the SCWFI medal. New members are inducted in a ceremony during the Indiana Genealogical Society's annual conference.
