Peggy Clemens Lauritzen, accredited genealogist, will give a webinar regarding the Connecticut Western Reserve and the Ohio Territory on Monday, September 10, at 6 PM at the Vigo County Public Library.

Connecticut had land claims in the Ohio Territory since the Colonial period.  Most of the land was given to the federal government in 1786. About 500,000 acres were preserved in the NE corner of Ohio, the westernmost part was known as the Firelands, the eastern part was sold to the Connecticut Land Company for development.

Many easterners migrated to these areas to obtain land and settle in the two regions.

Peggy will go in depth regarding the history, the migration patterns and supply an extensive bibliography for further research in your family history.

Peggy is a frequent lecturer throughout the country and has presented at Brigham Young University, ICAPGen, several community colleges and Ohio State University.

She is a featured columnist in Reminisce magazine, has written Legacy QuickGuides and has filmed as an instructor for Ancestry Academy.
